God has good plans for your life

Have you ever questioned God’s will for your life? Do you think He has good plans for you? Do you think He wants to ruin all your fun and cause you to go to a lost tribe in Africa? Perhaps you think suffering and setbacks are His will for all good Christians, right?

I can assure you that God wants you to live an abundant life. Jesus was very clear about that in John 10:10: “‘The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.’” (John 10:10, NKJV) Yes, there are dark forces designed to destroy you, but Christ wants to lead you into an amazing life. He wants to help you cross over into your promised land. God’s will is not boring or depressing.

God chose Joshua to lead the people of Israel into the Promised Land. They had been delayed for 40 years, but God still had a plan: “‘Moses My servant is dead. Now, therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.’” (Joshua 1:2, NKJV) You may feel guilty for failing, making mistakes, or sinning, but God still has a plan for you. I challenge you to admit your failures, ask God to forgive you, and start the new plan to cross over.

I’ve messed up so many times in my life, but I’ve discovered that God is greater than my weaknesses. I’ll never forget a huge mistake that turned into something good. My fiancée and I were playing backgammon, and I lost my temper in front of her family. I was such a poor loser.

After losing my temper, I withdrew to a second-story bedroom and hung my head in shame. Moments later, my fiancée, her brother, and her mother entered the room. I was expecting a scolding, but instead, they said these piercing words: “We want to receive Christ because if you can be a Christian, anybody can.”

You don’t have to be perfect to be a blessed Christian. A powerful song by David Crowder Band, “How He Loves,” boldly proclaims, “If His grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.” I’d like to encourage you to listen to the song and change the way you think. We can’t earn the grace and blessings of God—they are gifts.

I hope and pray that it will help you because you are a miracle.
